Intracluster light in the core of z∼2 galaxy proto-clusters

چکیده
Abstract Intracluster light is thought to originate from stars that were ripped away their parent galaxies by gravitational tides and galaxy interactions during the build up of cluster. The such will accumulate over time, so semi-analytic models suggest abundance intracluster negligible in young proto-clusters at z ∼ 2 grows around a quarter stellar mass oldest, most mature clusters. In contrast these theoretical expectations, we report on detection within two = using deep HST images. We use colour estimate its mass-to-light ratio annuli brightest cluster (BCG), radius 100 kpc. find 54 ± 5% 71 3% regions located more than 10 kpc BCGs proto-clusters. Intracluster Light in Nearby Galaxy Clusters: Ii. the Chemical Enrichment of the Intracluster Medium
We explore the contribution of intracluster stars (ICS) to the chemical enrichment history of the intracluster medium (ICM). In contrast to scenarios in which all the metals originate in cluster galaxies and are then transported into the ICM, intracluster stars enrich the ICM in situ, thereby contributing 100% of their supernovae ejecta directly into the ICM. Modeling the ICS as an ancient, sin...

متن کاملIntracluster Light in Nearby Galaxy Clusters: Relationship to the Halos of Brightest Cluster Galaxies
We present a detailed analysis of the surface brightness distribution of the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) in each of 24 galaxy clusters at 0.03 < z < 0.13. We use two-dimensional profile fitting to model the surface brightness out to r = 300 kpc for each BCG, comparing r1/4, r1/n, and double r1/4 models. We obtain statistically superior fits using a two component model consisting of a pair of...

We present a detailed analysis of the surface brightness distribution of the brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) in a sample of 24 galaxy clusters at 0.03 < z < 0.13. We use two-dimensional profile fitting to model the surface brightness out to r = 300 h−1 70 kpc for each BCG, comparing r 1/4, r1/n, and double r1/4 models. The observed position angle and ellipticity gradients are inconsistent with a...
متن کاملIntracluster Planetary Nebulae as dynamical probes of the diffuse light in galaxy clusters
I will review the latest results for the presence of diffuse light in the nearby universe and at intermediate redshift, and then discuss the latest results from hydrodynamical cosmological simulations of cluster formation on the expected properties of diffuse light in clusters. I shall present how intracluster planetary nebulae (ICPNe) can be used as excellent tracers of the diffuse stellar pop...
